Wildfire crews were able to limit the spread of flames burning in the north, despite the weekend’s high temperatures and shifting winds.
While it grew to cover around 336 hectares, crews are still listing the John Brown Creek fire near Witset as being held.
An evacuation alert remains in place there, as does one south of Houston, and another around Marilla, on the north side of Ootsa Lake.
Evacuation orders are in place north of where the Nadina River meets Francois Lake, and around Lukas Lake northeast of the Nechako Reservoir.
Orders are also in place east of there around Tatuk Lake, around Great Beaver Lake north of Vanderhoof, and around the Omineca Provincial Park.
Fire danger ratings are currently set to high across most of the North, and are hitting extreme levels in portions of the Bulkley-Nechako.
