Feral pigs are taking over Canada, and the invasion of BC has begun.
According to the Invasive Species Council of BC, the province has experienced a boom in the wild hogs as of late.
Most of the reports come from the Peace and Chilcotin areas so far, but experts are warning that the populations spread rapidly and can quickly become out of control.
It’s not the first province to be targeted by the invasive species, some Saskatchewan researchers say they could soon outnumber humans in the province.
Alberta also launched their own campaign against feral pigs earlier this year.
According to experts, the animals destory crops and even harm the environment, and can revert to their boar-like state in just a few generations.
If you see any feral pigs, you are asked not to interact with them, but to report them to RAPP, at 1 877 952 7277.
