Gidimt’en Land Defenders say they have evicted Coastal GasLink workers, and reclaimed their Coyote Camp along the Wedzin Kwa.
That camp was one of the sites of an RCMP injunction enforcement from last month which saw nearly 30 arrested in two days along the pipeline route.
Claims that they have “re-established control” over the camp went out on the Gidimt’en Checkpoint Twitter account yesterday afternoon.
November’s enforcement began after the Gidimt’en issued an eviction notice to CGL employees, which was not followed.
That eviction was, in turn, a continuation of one issued in 2020 by the Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs.
Another letter signed by the Chiefs, re-affirming the eviction, has been sent out.
Meanwhile, CGL says that security officials were forced to leave the site when a dozen camouflaged individuals took over the road and threatened them.
In their report to RCMP, CGL alleges that clubs, flares, and bear bangers were used, and vehicles damaged during the incident.
RCMP say that any persons found blocking or impeding workers’ access to the area will be subject to arrest.
