Early development activities to bring an Indigenous-led health and wellness centre to Northwest BC are now underway.
In August of 2020, member Nations from the Northern First Nations Alliance came to an agreement to bring a culturally appropriate holistic Health, Wellness, and Detox Centre to the Northwest.
Now, the Alliance has hired Manon Joice to complete the required community asset mapping exercise, and prepare a project feasibility study in consultation with member communities.
Joice has previously filled numerous roles to help bring better health care to Northeastern BC.
Those efforts are expected to wrap-up in October of this year, and will help support the NFNA’s work to secure funding for the project.
Nine Indigenous communities, from four Nations, the Gitxsan, Haisla, Nisga’a, and Tsimshian, are represented by the NFNA.
