A bomb threat is being investigated at William Konkin Elementary School in Burns Lake.
RCMP say they got the call this morning.
According to police, the principal of the school called Mounties when she learned of a device and evacuated the staff and students.
Police say they called the explosive disposal unit out of an abundance of caution and they confirm the device could not have exploded, and have removed it for disposal.
RCMP say they will not be able to comment on the nature of the device, or how it was brought into the school while they continue to investigate.
Barb Abraham’s daughter, Sierra, attends the school.
She tells CFNR News that she was worried at first, but felt better as she heard the children were being told it was a fire drill and were kept calm.
Abraham says she’s happy everyone was evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.
The school has now been determined safe and open for business as usual.
