The Terrace Search and Rescue had a busy holiday weekend.
The SAR team participates in a number of events throughout Riverboat Days, including the parade, the fireworks display and the duck race.
In the midst of the festivities, crews were called to assist with the search and rescue of a 25 year old Belgian man who fell in the Stikine River.
3 members of the fire department, along with helicopter support was dispatched to Telegraph Creek.
Crews proceeded to search the water, the shorelines and underneath debris for the missing man.
RCMP called off the search Monday night.
Monday night also saw fire department crews aiding a kayaker on the Kalum River who had tipped over.
The injured paddler activated his in-reach device and crews were able to get him out of the river with a helicopter.
The man was then treated for hypothermia, assessed by paramedics and cleared to go.
