A haze of wildfire smoke that’s settled in the Cariboo over the last number of days may get even thicker.
The BC Wildfire Service says plans are in the works to remove unburned fuels between the Narcosli Creek fire and a machine guard on the southeastern corner of the fire.
It’s hoped the planned ignition on this fire and others in the Cariboo Fire Centre area will prevent them from spreading.
While the timing of the controlled burn will depend on the weather, officials say it may or may not be visible to surrounding communities.
But if the sky does clear, you may notice a significant column of smoke that may last for several hours.
The wildfire service says you should not be worried by the increased smoke.
The 3400 hectare Narcosli Creek blaze is considered 90 percent guarded and 50 percent contained.
