A fire burning 40km southwest of Lac La Hache has grown from 8 hectares to 36 since it was discovered Friday.
The BC Wildfire Service says crews are continuing to reinforce control lines around the flames, but officials are not confident the fire won’t spread beyond the lines. The fire is still considered out of control.
There were 50 firefighters, one helicopters, two pieces of heavy equipment, and airtankers are also on site Saturday.
Smoke is visible in nearby communities, but the BC Wildfire Service says no structures are threatened at this point.
The suspected cause of the fire is lightning.
