The City of Quesnel is advising residents near the Quesnel River, Fraser River, and Baker Creek to prepare for possible flooding.
City officials say the warmer weather has caused an earlier than usual spring melt.
The city is monitoring water levels in area rivers and creeks and removing debris from bridges to prevent jams in the water channels.
It’s also reminding residents to stay away from waterways due to potentially dangerous and unstable banks.
