The College of New Caledonia has put special measures in place after one of its students was killed.
Officials say the female student was struck by a vehicle along Highway 97 not far from the Prince George campus late Wednesday afternoon and died of her injuries.
“We are deeply saddened by the news tonight that one of our students has died as a result of this collision,” said CNC President Henry Reiser. “Our first thoughts go out to the student’s family, to whom we offer our sincerest condolences. We also grieve with those closest to this student, including roommates, friends, classmates and instructors who were with them during their time on campus.”
RCMP say the 47 year-old woman at the wheel of the vehicle involved was arrested at the scene for impaired driving.
CNC says it will have support services available to both students and employees at the Prince George campus Thursday.
