Today, Interior Health and the First Nations Health Authority announced a shared investment of 3 million dollars to bring Eldercare closer to smaller communities.
Interior Health will contribute 2 million dollars on an ongoing basis for enhanced nursing support for First Nations Elders and those living with chronic conditions.
This nursing enhancement will improve access to culturally safe, holistic and quality healthcare services for Elders living in small community, including those living with chronic conditions.
Brad Anderson is with Interior Health and he says its crucial to bring modernized services to smaller communities to ease the travel times.
Anderson adds the long-term ongoing investment will commence in 2019-20 and result in $10 milli?on over the next five years directed towards First Nations Elders care in the Interior region.
