In light of rotating Canada Post strikes, Elections BC is urging residents to return their electoral reform referencum packages by the end of the week.
Though they claim the strikes have had no effect on the referendum thus far, the Chief Electoral Officer does have the authority to extend the voting period if deemed necessary.
As of Friday, Elections BC has received packages from just 18 percent of eligible voters and, with no minimum turnout required, those opposing the change to proportional representation are already calling for an extension.
Residents who have concerns about mailing in their votes can always return their packages to a Service BC Officer instead.
