Canadian Armed forces are now joining the fight against the number of wildfires that continue to burn across the province.
Mike Farnworth, the new minister of public safety and Emergency Management, announced today that negotiations with the federal government have let to the deployment of 225 armed forces troops coming in the province to help with civilian management.
Farnworth, along with Doug Donaldson and Jennifer Rice, are in Kamloops today touring the city and meeting with people affected by the fires.
This weekend the group plans to meet with federal ministers to continue talks about wildfire management.
Approximately 150 CAF personnel have been deployed to Williams Lake and the surrounding area to support emergency management efforts. The additional 225 announced today brings it to a total of 375 CAF personnel deployed.
