First Nations Chiefs across the country are speaking out against the Federal Government’s decision to purchase the Trans Mountain Pipeline.
Numerous Chiefs from all over Canada joined thousands in Vancouver to protest the purchase yesterday on Coast Salish territory.
All of the Chiefs voiced the same statement: Without their consent, no expansion would be built regardless of ownership.
Of the roughly 100 First Nations affected by the project in BC, just 30 signed agreements with Kinder Morgan, 6 have filed legal challenges, and there are currently 14 outstanding legal challenges over the project in the Courts.
