The BC River Forecast Centre has issued a flood warning for the North Coast.
Official say heavy rain that fell yesterday saw the Kitimat, Little Wedeene, and Kemano Rivers, Hirsch Creek and other rivers and creeks in the Kitimat and Terrace rise rapidly. Forecasters say more heavy rain is expected to drench the region today.
BC River Forecast Centre head Dave Campbell says flooding can be expected with record flows anticipated in the region.
The river forecast centre has also issued flood watches for Prince Rupert, Highway 16 west of Terrace and for rivers and creeks on Haida Gwaii.
Officials have issued a high streamflow advisory for the North Coast along the Nass River and Stewart.
