Fort St John has joined the collection of cities seeking intervener status on the National Energy Board’s review of the Coastal GasLink Pipeline.
A hearing is set to take place to determine whether or not a jurisdictional challenge of the pipeline is legitimate.
Smithers resident Micheal Sawyer issued the challenge months ago, claiming that the provincially approved pipeline should be considered a federal undertaking.
If the pipeline is determined to be federal consent, an NEB review will need to take place, which will further delay the LNG Project in Kitimat which the pipeline is set to fuel.
