Friends and family are mourning the loss of a local angler in Douglas Channel last week.
Tony Rutledge of Terrace was well-known in the Northwest fishing community and host of the locally-produced show “Tight Lines”.
The 52-year-old is presumed drowned after the four-metre aluminum boat he was in ran into trouble in the waters off Kitamaat Village.
Rutledge’s daughter Alexis Kornelson says that was his favourite spot for fishing.
Rutledge was last scene hanging on to the boat. Despite a massive search by the Canadian Coast Guard and locals, no trace of Rutledge was found.
Rutledge’s companion swam toward shore and was rescued by a local fishing vessel.
