The province is providing financial help to northeastern BC residents forced from their homes by a slow-moving landslide.
The BC government is making Disaster Financial Assistance is available to residents of Old Fort which was cut off from Fort St. John when a creeping landslide buckled the pavement of the only road in and cut electricity.
Disaster Financial Assistance is available to homeowners, tenants, small business owners, farmers, and others unable to obtain insurance to cover disaster-related losses.
BC Hydro and transportation ministry crews have been assessing when and how services can be restored to the 54 homes evacuated.
There’s no word yet when the evacuation order will be lifted.
