Environment Canada is warning people in the Peace region to expect heavy rain.
The forecast says an intense low will bring heavy rain to the area tonight, but is expected to ease tomorrow night.
Total rainfall from this system is expected to be in the 60 to 80mm range.
Higher rainfall amounts near 100mm are possible over communities on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains, including Hudson Hope and Chetwynd.
DriveBC is reporting Highway 97 is closed in both directions from the junction with Highway 39 south of Mackenzie, to the junction with Highway 29 in Chetwynd.
Highway 52, 10km south of Arras, has been closed due to flooding.
The BC River Forecast Centre upgraded a high stream flow advisory to a flood watch for the Peace Region, including streams near Pine Pass, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Dawson Creek and Fort St. John.
