Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb posted a video via Facebook Sunday night to update displaced residents of his community.
Cobb says the cold front that whipped up winds and caused fierce fire behaviour around Williams Lake has moved through the region. A shift in the wind direction will allow crews to construct fire guards around the city.
While he says the city isn’t out of the woods just yet, Cobb says homes in the community are safe right now.
Cobb also passed on his thanks to the many firefighters, air crews, and volunteers assisting with the wildfire fight.
