A police officer who fatally shot a man last July in Dawson Creek won’t face criminal charges.
The province’s police watchdog has cleared the officer of any wrongdoing in the police shooting of 48-year-old James McIntyre.
McIntyre was shot outside a BC Hydro Site C presentation at the Stonebridge Hotel in Dawson Creek on July 16, 2015.
The Independent Investigation Office says witnesses described a masked McIntyre lunging and jabbing at officers with an opened switchblade.
Pepper spray was ineffective against McIntyre, who was then shot and killed.
