The federal government has announced $27 million in funding to support Indigenous businesses and programs in Western Canada.
A total of 45 projects will receive money, including the Heiltsuk Economic Development Corporation and Dandzen Development Limited Partnership in the Chilcotin.
Dandzen will get a million dollars to support the Tsilhqot’in solar farm project while the Heiltsuk Economic Development Corporation will receive $855,000 to support Indigenous business development in the seafood processing sector.
The First Nations Technology Council will get over $3 million to boost Indigenous access to digital skills training in BC.
The funding is through the Western Diversification Program.
Federal innovation minister Navdeep Bains is also scheduled to make an announcement about high-speed internet funding on Haida Gwaii Tuesday.
