Kitimat residents can resume using water directly out of the tap once again.
The district and health officials have lifted the boil water order put in place last week due to the rapid rise in the Kitimat river that led to cloudy water coming out of the faucet.
Meanwhile, according to the Smither’s town website, that community hasn’t yet dealt with its contamination problems. Into the third week, residents should continue to boil their water.
City workers shocked the system last week using high concentrations of chlorine, but according to the website the boil water order hasn’t been lifted.
