Logging truck crash kills driver north of Fort St. James

Fort St. James RCMP are investigating a fatal crash involving a logging truck.

RCMP and ambulance crews were called out early Wednesday morning to a location along 100 Forest Service Road north of Fort St. James.

Officers found that a loaded logging truck had gone off the road and over a 15 foot embankment.  The crash caused the logs to shift into the cab, trapping the driver.

First responders say the driver, a 44 year-old Merritt man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP are gathering forensic evidence to help determine what caused the crash.

Anyone with information should contact the Fort St. James RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
