Low fire danger in the Northwest

Although wildfires rage throughout most of the province, the Northwest Fire Centre is seeing low fire danger.

Kevin Skrepnec, Chief fire information officer with the BC Wildfire Service says this is mostly due to ongoing rain the the forecast.

Even with low fire danger, there is still a province-wide fire ban in effect until further notice that came in to affect on Monday.

Campfires, the burning of any waste, debris or other materials,  tiki torches, fireworks, firecrackers, sky lanterns, burning barrels or burning cages of any size or description, as well as the use of binary exploding targets are all prohibited.
