North Coast NDP MLA Jennifer Rice is calling on area residents to attend BC Transit’s public consultations.
The consultations are being held in communities along the Highway 16 corridor in preparation for BC Transit rolling out an intercity service.
Rice praises the consultations but is concerned about the short time BC Transit staff are in each community, and the lack of awareness of the meetings.
Yesterday, she sent out a mass social media message asking people to spread the word.
Rice says any service that’s implemented should help the diverse needs of people who need affordable transportation.
She says that’s why it’s important for BC Transit to get community input from a variety of perspectives.
There’s also concern that some communities may get left out.
