The Inquiry in to missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Girls has a team in Northern BC right now talking with victim’s families and conducting pre-intakes.
The inquiry will be making their only scheduled stop to British Columbia the week of September 25th in Smithers.
The team was in Smithers yesterday and today, they will be in Hazelton as well today and Terrace tomorrow.
Alana Boileau is with the community relations team and she is encouraging people to come and share their stories, talk with a lawyer on hand and learn about how to participate in the inquiry.
Contact Penny Kerrigan, Community Liaison Officer, at 1-778-238-6876 or at email@example.com, or Melissa Carlick, Community Liaison Officer, at 1-867-333-0837 or at firstname.lastname@example.org, to find out more about how you can meet with the National Inquiry to get information on how you can participate.
It is important to note that families, survivors and loved ones have choices in how to share, in a comfortable and safe way. There are many ways to participate, including before a Commissioner in a private and confidential hearing without any cameras present.
