The National Energy Board has approved an export licence for a proposed liquefied natural gas project on the North Coast.
The NEB has granted Orca LNG a 25 year natural gas export licence for a maximum quantity of 901 billion cubic metres.
Orca LNG plans to develop a terminal consisting of six floating vessels permanently moored near shore to store and offload LNG.
The terminal is proposed for the Prince Rupert area, but no specific location has been identified.
The planned in-service date for the project is 2019.
