The provincial government is revealing more details on their new primary health care strategy.
By changing the way family doctors are compensated, adjusting vacation and leace time, and introducing a team-based approach, the government hopes to add 200 new family doctors.
Under the new plan, new practitioners will be able to start their careers on an alternative payment method instead of the fee-for-service method, to help them learn while still earning a living.
The team-based method will also allow them to learn from and under existing practitioners.
The government will also introduce an outreach plan for existing practitioners this summer.
