Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Environment, in partnership with Tides Canada, has announced a new funding opportunity for residents in select communities in the north to pursue their education at SFU
The tuition program offers $3000 for a max of 7 people in Terrace, Smithers, Kitimat, and communities in the upper Skeena to help not only reduce tuition, but also reduce travel cost to help students travel down to Vancouver.
Instructor Wes Regan says this program is here to help bring out the potential in small communities.
Regan adds it’s important to create relationships between rural and urban communities.
The course is usually online, however, the funds will help students travel down and take 2 one week long courses.
The deadline for applications is July 30th, and you can grab more information on the grant by visiting www.SFU.ca/ced.
