Sometimes when people get into trouble in the bush or on the water, help can sometimes be delayed, but the capability to carry out rescues is getting improved.
The Emergency Health Services has announced night vision capability is being installed in helicopters that will allow them more flexibility when they have to respond to calls in low to no natural light.
The north and central coastal areas are expected to benefit greatly from the technological upgrades to choppers staging out of Prince Rupert. Helicopters working out of Vancouver will also see the installation of the gear. The technology will also be installed in helicopters located in Kamloops next year.
Crew training is underway and slated to be completed early next year.
