North Coast NDP MLA Jennifer Rice grilled the education minister yesterday during question period about deteriorating conditions at Prince Rupert Middle School.
Rice spoke of asbestos in the walls, foul odours, and portions of the school sinking.
Minister Mike Bernier responded by saying none of those issues are causing health problems and his ministry is working with school districts.
Sandra Jones with School District 52 agrees the school does have problems and needs replacing.
She says while there are many schools in the province that need replacing, PRMS is near the top of the list and hopes changes will come in the next few years.
The school was built during the 1960’s and has about 450 students.
