A number of organizations have signed onto an open letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asking him not to grant Enbridge an extension on its Northern Gateway Project.
Des Nobels is with Friends of Wild Salmon, and he says many people are concerned that the Northern Gateway Project may be reviving.
Nobels is concerned that there may be pressure to revive the project despite Prime Minister Trudeau promising a tanker ban along the north coast.
Nobels says he still believes the Prime Minister will keep his promise of a tanker moratorium, and that cynicism hasn’t yet set in.
Earlier this month Enbridge filed a request with the National Energy Board for a three-year extension on what is known as a sunset clause.
That clause stipulates a deadline for the proponent to start construction.
