Several families across the north rang in the new year with some new additions.
Northern Health says the first baby born in its region for 2016 was a girl.
Ellie Marie Bajic was born in Prince George January 1st at 1:25 local time weighing in
at 8 pounds, 1 ounce to mom Kayla Bajic and dad David Bajic.
Prince Rupert’s first baby of the year was also a girl born January 1st to mom Bhupinder Baath and dad Ginny Bahth of Prince Rupert weighing in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces arriving at 10:34 a.m.
Smithers welcomed a baby girl as its first of 2016. Kaylee Margaret deJong was born at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital on January 1 at 11:32 a.m. local time to mom Jamie and dad Jesse of Telkwa weighing in at 9 pounds, 1 ounce.
It was a boy for Quesnel’s first baby born in the new year. Owen Freybe arrived at 11:40 a.m. to mom Amanda Hennigar and dad Andrew Freybe weighing in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces.
The first baby born in Terrace in 2016 is also a boy. Jedi Wells was born at the Mills Memorial Hospital on January 2 at 8:26 p.m. to mom Phyllis Wells and dad Justin Squires weighing in at 8 pounds, 14 ounces.
