The Peace, Upper Fraser, and Upper Fraser West areas have all been placed under a level 3 drought by the province.
Level 3 droughts call for residents to avoid any non-essential water use and to voluntarily reduce surface water and ground water usage.
Residents are asked to limit outdoor watering, wait to clean vehicles, take shorter showers, and refrain from water use during the hottest hours of the day.
The declaration is due to reduced stream water levels thanks to dry conditions that could pose a risk to ecosystems.
If voluntary restrictions are not enough, the province can enact manditory restrictions.
