Prince Rupert drivers and their cars are getting a reprieve.
Paving on Highway 16 from McBride Street, down 2nd Avenue to the Ferry Terminal, as well as 3rd Avenue through downtown will start on Monday until the end of June.
Veronika Stewart is with the city and says this is a major project.
She adds it’s a long time coming for Prince Rupert drivers.
The work will be done from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., but the city warns there will be significant noise in the areas undergoing paving.
Parking won’t be allowed on the streets where the paving is being done as it’s curb to curb construction. Signs will be posted to let people know when and where parking is prohibited.
Violating vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense and can be picked up at the Civic Centre’s parking lot.
