A call out has been made by the Qqs Projects Society for donations of books by indigenous authors.
The society is a Heiltsuk non-profit organization based in Bella Bella that builds community capacity.
Jess Housty is with the Qqs Society, and she says the volunteer run and donation supported library is an important part of the community.
She says books by indigenous authors from around the world can connect local First Nations peoples internationally.
The society started a library in 2007, but a fire destroyed the library and its 5,000 book collection in 2013.
Since then, the library has been rebuilt, and now they’re expanding their collection.
For those who are interested in donating, please contact Jess Housty at firstname.lastname@example.org or 250-957-2917.
