Due to the wildfire crisis in B.C, the city of Quesnel won’t be seeing some of their biggest summer attractions.
Committees for both the Billy Barker days and Skyfest have decided to cancel their events for this summer.
While both festivals are not-for-profit mayor of Quesnel Bob Simpson says the economic impact of the cancellations is huge for local businesses.
The main focus continues to be stopping the wildfires and protecting communities, homes, and livestock.
Simpson hopes the town can come together after the fires and regroup and gain what they lost.
Even though some festivals throughout the Cariboo are canceled, festivals in the Northwest are up and running.
