Quesnel RCMP have captured a man who has been hiding out in the community since the early summer.
Police were at the scene of a call Thursday morning in the South Hills area of the city when an officer noticed a man matching the description of Gerald Richard McLean.
Police have been looking for McLean since he walked away from his halfway house in the Vancouver area in May.
As soon as the man saw police, he changed directions and headed into a wooded area.
RCMP set up a perimeter, called in extra officers, and eventually arrested McLean without incident.
The Quesnel RCMP are investigating a number of files, including break-ins and thefts, that could be related to McLean’s time evading police in the area.
Mounties say another break and enter was discovered early Thursday morning at a vacant home just two blocks from where McLean was arrested.
RCMP say McLean will be transported to the Prince George Regional Correction Centre.
