Quesnel RCMP have one person in custody after officers spotted a stolen vehicle near G.R. Baker hospital Tuesday morning.
When the driver noticed police, he sped away from the area while police notified other officers in the region.
RCMP found the vehicle abandoned on a dead-end street and called in a police dog from Prince George.
The handler and dog were able to track down the suspect hiding under a tarp in an outbuilding less than 100 metres from the vehicle.
Police arrested the man, who suffered some injuries in a confrontation with the dog, and transported him to the detachment.
Quesnel RCMP say the suspect is well known to authorities and is facing several charges.
