An RCMP officer has been charged in connection with the arrest of a male youth in Terrace nearly two years ago.
The BC Criminal Justice Branch has approved a charge of assault against Constable Bruce Lofroth.
The charge stems from the investigation of an arrest on May 28th, 2014 which was caught on tape. The male youth was allegedly injured during the incident, although no details about the injury or allegations have been disclosed.
Terrace RCMP received a video of the alleged incident in October, 2014 and reported it to the Independent Investigations Office, which oversees police-involved deaths or serious injuries. The IIO investigated and then handed over the file to the Criminal Justice Branch.
Lofroth is scheduled to appear in court March 7th.
