The Nechako Lakes School District is taking a look at cyberbullying.
Student Voice will be hosting Darren Laur, a retired Victoria Police Department Officer to speak to students and parents about Internet safety and cyberbullying.
Student Voice is a student led body within School District 91.
Courtland Mack is a grade 12 student from the group and says cyberbullying is a big issue within the four high schools that are in the district.
Issues include name calling and bullying, and sharing inappropriate pictures.
Mack says there are rules governing internet usage and bullying, but they’re outdated.
He says the talks will cover the whole gamut of internet safety.
Mack says there’ll also be a presentation for parents, so they’re also aware of the issues.
The first presentation is on May 30th at LDSS in Burns Lake, it then goes to FLESS at Fraser Lake, FSJSS in Fort St. James, and then a workshop will be held at NVSS in Vanderhoof.
