100 Mile House RCMP locked down two businesses after shots were fired in the community early Sunday.
Police were called at about 1:00 a.m. for reports of a man said to be thinking about harming himself who may have had a loaded handgun.
While RCMP were responding, shots were heard in the downtown core. Police set up a containment area and called in a police dog and the Emergency Response Team from Prince George.
Officers confronted a male matching the description walking away from the area who told police he had a gun.
RCMP arrested the man without incident and he was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Police are recommending weapons-related charges against a 42 -year-old local man.
