The Shovel Lake wildfire saw significant activity yesterday as it ballooned to nearly 85 thousand hectares.
The east side of the blaze was particularly active as the flames hopped across Settlement Road yesterday and continued to move through heavy timber areas and under the burn scar from last year.
Crews are continuing to work to tie this expansion back to the perimeter today.
253 firefighters are working with 52 pieces of heavy equipment to set up guards today on the south an east flanks, and to work the fire away from the northshore of Fraser Lake.
Bothe the Trout Lake FSR and Sutherland Road are closed due to wildfire activity.
