A new supportive housing project has been announced to help the homeless in Terrace.
As part of the plan to build 2,000 modular housing units across the province, the BC government is putting up nearly $8 million dollars for 52 permanent units in the city.
“This modular-housing program is a critical step towards supporting our most vulnerable citizens and providing them with affordable, quality housing,” says Terrace mayor Carol Leclerc. “This program provides 24/7 support staffing to address the challenges our homeless and low-income residents experience in accessing safe and secure housing.”
The housing is proposed for 4519 and 4523 Olson Avenue which will be the subject of a rezoning application by the city. A public hearing is slated for December 11th.
BC Housing is currently working on identifying a housing operator.
