Terrace City Council has rezoned the Cedars Motel on Highway 16 to allow for affordable housing.
The Terrace and District Community Services Society is working on the project with B.C. Housing.
Stacey Tyers with TDCSS says the rezoning was vital for the project to move forward.
She says the project will provide the exact type of housing units needed in Terrace.
The first residents are expected to move into the renovated units by the summer.
The TDCSS and B.C. Housing are still negotiating the details of the project’s operating agreement, though rent is expected to be in the $400 to $450 range.
