Terrace city council is putting money towards the R.E.M. Lee Theatre.
Council approved giving a one time payment of $12,000.
Council debated if money should be given to the theatre as it is already owned and operated by Coast Mountains School District.
Coast Mountains’ Alanna Cameron says the R.E.M. Lee Theatre Alive Society is in charge of big ticket upgrades.
Cameron also noted a majority of events happening at the theatre are non-school functions.
Staff will explore the idea of establishing a formal agreement to provide annual funding.
