Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for coastal sections of the Central Coast and the North Coast.
Forecasters expect a rapidly intensifying low to approach northern Vancouver Island Tuesday morning and then move closer to Haida Gwaii by early evening.
Very strong southeast wind of up to 90 km/h are expected early Tuesday morning and shift to the southwest up to 90 km/h by midday.
Strong southerly winds near 90 km/h will hit exposed coastal areas of the North Coast near midday Tuesday and begin to ease late in the afternoon.
