Two major changes to the real estate industry take effect in BC today with the goal of better protecting customers.
Starting today, agents will no longer be able to represent both the buyer and seller in real estate transactions, with some exceptions for small communities.
On top of that, agents will also need to provide more information to a client up front regarding services, fees, benefits, brokerages earned, risks of sales, and how to file official complaints.
The new rules stem from a September 2017 announcement following a number of “shadow flipping” scandals coming to light.
