Staff and students at Moricetown Elementary Secondary School are preparing to make the best of a bad situation.
The school suffered flooding last week when a four inch pipe connected to its sprinkler system burst.
With cleanup and restoration work underway at the school, The Kyah Wiget Education Society says the goal is to have temporary space for students by Friday, January 12th.
The Witset First Nation has offered the school part of its gym, the small feast hall, and the upper floor of the band office.
For now, the Witsuwit’en Child and Family Centre will not be open January 8. However, officials say hydro will be back online by Tuesday, meaning children of working parents will again be able to attend.
Officials are asking non-working parents for their patience until licensing allows the facility to welcome back a full complement of children at the centre.
